How to change your SIM PIN

Have you ever called the Customer Service Department of your mobile operator to change the PIN number of your SIM and then being told you could do it all from your smartphone? Well, it's true! We will show you how to do it in the following steps.  

How to change your PIN on Android 

If you have an Android phone, to change your PIN number, go to "Settings" and look for the "Security" section. Then, click on "More settings" → "SIM lock settings" and from that menu you can change the PIN of your SIM card.  

To begin with, we must enter our current PIN and after the system verifies that it is correct, we will be able to insert the new code. Remember that depending on the mobile device model, the route and/or section names may change slightly. For example, in the case of Samsung, this functionality can be found in "Biometric and security data" > "Other security settings". If you have problems finding this option, insert the word "SIM" in the settings search engine and your phone will automatically locate the functionality. 

How to change the PIN in IOS  

Very similar to the procedure to change your PIN if you have a phone that operates with the iOS operating system. In this case, you must go to "Settings" and click on "Mobile data". The "SIM PIN" option will automatically appear, and you only must click on "Change PIN" to modify the secret number of your SIM card. 

On both Android and iOS, you also have the option to deactivate the PIN forever, so that you can turn off your device and when you restart it, it will not ask you for any code to access. Although, if you decide on this alternative, you should be aware that you will be detracting from the security of your mobile device. It is recommended that you have some method to preserve your privacy and protect your phone (and your mobile rates) from others. 

SIM change on any device  

In addition to doing this, as in the previous cases, there is also the possibility of performing a shorter and generic process that works on most mobile phones. It consists of opening the dialing of your mobile phone and putting the following code: **04*current PIN*new PIN*new PIN# and pressing the call button. For example, if we want to change from 0000 to 1111 it would look something like this: **04*0000*1111*1111#
